Presentation Title:

The psychological journey of pregnant and laboring women during preoperative and postoperative care

Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth are profound life experiences that bring both joy and psychological challenges. For many women, the preoperative and postoperative phases of labor require immense emotional resilience as they navigate feelings of anticipation, anxiety, and uncertainty. The psychological journey during these stages is influenced by factors such as personal expectations, medical interventions, and support. Recognizing the psychological impact of childbirth is essential in ensuring a positive maternal experience. Healthcare providers must systems, shaping the overall birthing experience. The preoperative phase often involves concerns about the health of both mother and baby, surgical procedures, and potential complications. Emotional preparation, education, and compassionate healthcare practices play a crucial role in alleviating distress and promoting mental well-being. Postoperatively, women may experience relief, exhaustion, or even postpartum mood shifts as they recover physically and transition into motherhood. Understanding these psychological shifts can aid in providing holistic care that addresses both physical recovery and emotional support. Consider not only the physiological aspects but also the emotional and mental needs of pregnant and laboring women.
