Presentation Title:

Health-related quality of life during pregnancy: Systematic review

Abstract

Purpose: Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) has emerged as a critical concern in patient care. It has evolved into one of the primary goals of clinical trials. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the quality of life (QoL) throughout uncomplicated pregnancies.
Patients and Methods: The search of articles was conducted using the online databases Web of Science and PUBMED, with a time range of 2011 to 2021. Two independent reviewers retrieved the data.
Results: There were 721 publications found in response to keywords, and 73 papers on the topic were chosen. Australia (n = 10) and Iran (n = 7) have published the most on this subject. Twenty-three articles are concerned with quality of life in pathological pregnancies. Obesity, low back and pelvic gridle pain, and hyperemesis gravidarum were the most common pathologies during pregnancy. Improved well-being was associated with socio-demographic factors. Similarly, better sleep quality and moderate physical activity were connected to higher quality of life. Physical and psychological aspects were linked to a decreased quality of life.
Conclusion: The health-related quality of life refers to patients' subjective evaluation of physical, mental and social components of well-being. Optimizing the QoL during pregnancy necessitates a deeper understanding of their issues as well as counselling which provides support wherever needed.
