Title: Enhancing strategic learning through the implementation of robust process improvement in a specialized tertiary care hospital

Abstract

Our journey of High Reliability Organization towards Zero Harm, at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, has started late 2017, in collaboration with Press Ganey (PG), which is a strategic business partner to more than 41,000 health care facilities. True performance comes only when hard measures are met and human factors are prioritized. By the implementation of Robust Process Improvement (RPI) Framework, participants were enabled to transform the care experience, lead Quality Initiatives within their departments, drive innovation, make problems visible & act on their respective root causes to deliver continuous and sustainable improvement. With the direction and support provided by our executive management, the journey towards Zero Harm have been streamlined into five critical priorities, and Robust Process Improvement was one of them; the other four (4) priorities included (1) Universal Skills on error preventions, (2) Just Culture, (3) Daily Huddle Board and (4) Rounding to Influence RPI provides a comprehensive model for Improvement of an integrated view of front-liners’ expertise, Quality of Care and staff engagement.

Biography

El Najjar is a Quality Specialist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital - Riyadh. She had a Master degree in science and is a certified in Lean for Healthcare Hospitals from Tennessee and a certified in Lean-Six Sigma Green Belt from ASQ She has an AIHQ and an ISQua fellowship and is a CPHQ and an ASCP Board certified. Her oversight and interest includes Clinical Pathways, Performance Improvement Projects as well as Accreditation and Risk Management. She had more than 20 years of experience as Quality Professional in King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center. She founded the Robust Process Improvement (RPI) program and was heavily involved in all relevant High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives implemented at KFSH&RC in collaboration with Press Ganey. Ms. El Najjar had 2 international publications and had multiple abstract and poster participation in different international Forums & Conference.
