Title: Complicated Covid-19 infection in pregnancy : a case report with cardiac arrest and brain damage

Abstract

Background: In the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, pregnant women and their fetuses are particularly at risk for adverse outcomes. Infection with the COVID-19 virus may be accelerated by pregnancy-induced immune responses and cardiovascular changes. This study aimed to describe the unexpected association between COVID-19 and outcomes in pregnant patients.
Case Presentation: A 37-year-old pregnant woman (25 weeks of gestation) with no medical history presented with a one-week history of fever, shortness of breath, and productive cough. In addition to not having a specific medical condition. The patient’s condition rapidly worsened. This is an unusual case of brain damage in a pregnant woman who suffered cardiac arrest and subsequently developed pneumonia caused by COVID-19.
Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of such a finding in a pregnant patient. The findings of our case study raise additional concerns regarding the possibility of unfavorable maternal outcomes following COVID-19 infection in pregnant women. Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic may adversely affect pregnant women and their fetuses.
